Xiaohongshu,alse called as Rednote, is a Chinese social platform whose emoji system deviates from standard Unicode protocols.

While many of its emojis don't conform to Unicode standards, this doesn't prevent their effective use.

Originally targeted at female users, Xiaohongshu is now expanding to become a universal social platform.

Its emoji design aesthetic centers around its brand mascot 'Hongshu' (Red Potato), a play on words with the platform's Chinese name.

The design features red characters inspired by the reddish-brown skin of sweet potatoes 🍠.
